'In the Secret Garden', is a suvey of artistic trends and conceptual explorations by women artists throughout the United States. The exhibition explores a broad spectrum of related imagery and thematic associations. The trope of the garden is used to underscore the relationships among artists working in different parts of the country and making works that can be explored together in meaningful ways.
RocĂo Aranda-Alvarado is Senior Curator at El Museo del Barrio where she has been working since 2009. She is organizing Antonio Lopez: Future Funk Fashion with Amelia Malagamba on the fashion illustrations and photography of Antonio Lopez as well as a solo show on the avant-garde artist from Argentina, Marta Minujin. Her curatorial work and research focuses on modern and contemporary art of the Americas. Ms. Aranda-Alvarado is also on the adjunct faculty in the Art History Department at the City College of New York.
