CRAFTING GENRE - KATHRYN BIGELOW

ART:
Crafting Genre: Kathryn Bigelow at MOMA The Museum Of Modern Art NYC
The director of Near Dark, Point Break, and Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker began her career as a painter and conceptual artist, working with the artist collective Art & Language before segueing into film. Paintings, film posters, drawings, storyboards, scripts, short films, and props reveal her thought processes and intuition, methods and motifs.
Now, go see the actual films
As part of “Crafting Genre,” MoMA will be screening a selection of Bigelow’s works, including the Western Near Dark, the surfing heist-thriller Point Break, the sci-fi noir Strange Days, and her 2008 Oscar-winner The Hurt Locker.
