B*TCH @SS TRICK takes a nod from dancehall/hip hop music and slang and subverts the sometimes-pejorative lyrics and words into a night of positivity and inclusionary fun for all. The energy and spirit of Jamaican and hip hop culture have often included the use of derogatory words to repress women, gays and others in the name of politics or religion. BAT aims to create an event with a message that is embodying, rejecting antiquated ideologies rooted in hate and discrimination, popularized by music that should be for everyone. BAT is NOT a reggae party or dancehall party in the literal sense. We take our inspiration from challenging counteractive and detrimental concepts, and championing a scene that unites all.
